People often confuse sheltered housing with residential care. Sheltered housing is a tenancy of your own where you live independently. A support Co-ordinator can be available to help you if you need it.

There is a range of sheltered housing available through Lincs Homefinder: bungalows, flats and bedsits, some have open plan gardens that the landlord maintains other have individual gardens for you to look after yourself. There is an additional charge for the support service, and any communal facilities but in some circumstances it can be covered by supporting People Funding, as well charges for any communal facilities.

Sheltered housing can offer you: Privacy, respect and independence, support when you need it, help to arrange additional care and support service when you need it, A 24-hour emergency call system, Optional social activities such as day trips, activities and talks.

You need to be registered with Lincs Homefinder and eligible for the above support to be considered for vacancies in sheltered housing. If you would like more detailed information about the specific schemes please visit the local authorities website (links below).
